I am interested in the artificialization of everything: landscapes, our environment, our social relationships, ourselves, and soon the automation of our thoughts. The central question is: ‘As the digital and virtual gradually replace the real, and as artificial intelligences gain power, what will remain of human heritage?’
I draw from reality figures, flowers, trees, landscapes, sculptures that I scan in three dimensions. I keep only the polygonal mesh of these 3D models to make the digital structure visible. Using 3D software, I virtually ‘break’ these entities that have become digital.
I then transfer the wireframe tracing of the obtained mesh onto paper using a robot, a Pen Plotter. Finally, I ink these drawings with a brush. It is thus a real/virtual/real cycle that mixes simulation, robotics, and reality.
There is an exchange between the ultra-precise digital and robotic tracing, and on the other hand, the manual intervention with the brush. The accidents caused by the ink medium blend with the coldness of the robotic tracing and the algorithmic complexity, bringing softness, lightness, and humanity.
